Monday: Students will complete a short writing about "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas." We will then begin the Lord of the Flies Prereading Activity .
Tuesday-Wednesday: Students will research in order to prepare to read Lord of the Flies.
Thursday: We will share findings about William Golding, the audience of the 1950's, the genre of dystopian literature, and the literary elements we will focus on this unit. Each student will get a copy of the novel and can begin reading.
Friday: Students will go to the guidance office to register for next year's classes. They will read chapters 1 and 2 and answer the questions over the chapters in order to prepare for a reading check on Monday. (The questions will not be handed in and are just intended to help prepare for the reading check).
